Whether you have a need to assert yourself and be better than others, or a need to please because you are insecure, in both cases your ego is troubling you. This hinders your contact with yourself, your personal development, your authenticity and your bond with others. How can you overcome that?

To answer this question, Roos Vonk combines psychological research with her experience as a trainer/coach. With a mix of knowledge, humor and compassion, she offers a hopeful path to self-insight and self-improvement.

Roos Vonk is professor of social psychology at Radboud University Nijmegen. She is known for her accessible style, making scientific knowledge applicable to a wide audience. She wrote several bestsellers. This masterclass is inspired by her latest book: ‘My ego is always right’ (at present only available in Dutch).

In this session, Roos will guide you through:

  • – How your ego, like a spin doctor, exerts a totalitarian regime behind the scenes, coloring and twisting all your observations and interpretations;
  • – How illusions about yourself can be healthy, and what the downside is;
  • – How you can look at yourself through realistic glasses and transcend your ego, thus developing a better version of yourself.
