Angelique is a psychologist at OpenUp. To Angelique it is important that the online connection feels pleasant and welcoming. That is why you both work on your bond of trust and look at the strengths you already have in the first meeting. How have you coped before with issues and challenges? What works for you?

Angelique is happy to help you to be the best version of yourself in the roles that are important to you through a holistic approach. You both take on a positive mindset by looking at what has been successful before and what is already going well at the moment. In addition, sharing insights and offering perspectives are fundamental during our sessions.

Angelique uses various forms of therapy, including mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, CBT and ACT. She also makes room to focus on ways to cope with climate-distress.

Angelique likes to practice yoga and has a strong interest in the ‘body-mind spirit’ principle. She is also interested in the associated scientific approaches to explain our human behavior and feelings. She believes that our sense of well-being not only lies in our head but is also strongly influenced by our physical health, our general mood, resilience, and attitude.

Angelique has extensive experience as a psychologist within government organisations , but also within her own practice in Suriname.

She grew up in the Netherlands and Suriname and completed her studies in developmental psychology at the Free University (VU) of Amsterdam.

Angelique speaks both Dutch and English.
